The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight

Unlike the SEALS, who shoot pretty damn straight, obama and his gang of merry men (and women) can't seem to get their stories straight on the OBL raid. First there was a firefight, then there wasn't. First OBL was armed, then he wasn't. First OBL hid behind a woman, then he didn't. First the disposal of OBL's carcass at sea was in accordance with islamic custom, then it wasn't.

Add in the whole release/don't release the pictures thing and we are left to wonder if that gaggle can really be as inept, amateurish, and bungling as they appear to be.
Someone needs to explain the First Rule of Holes to the Obama administration. Military and intelligence professionals executed an important mission brilliantly, carrying out their assigned task of killing Osama bin Laden and dumping his body into the ocean. Ever since, the administration has undercut the professionals' achievement with a succession of now-inoperative accounts of the raid's climactic moments. (Source.)
Yes, we know Osama bin Laden is dead, but if anyone is wondering why conspiracy theories keep popping up, the ever-changing story might have something to do with it. Well that and the refusal to show us the photo. (Source.)
Or is there something deeper going on here? Could it be possible, as Harper suggests (here and here) that the obama clan is taking advantage of these events to distract us from other issues detrimental to him, such as rising gas prices, rising unemployment, a stagnant economy, downgrades to the U.S. credit rating, the weakening of the dollar ... and the list goes on.

Occam's Razor suggests that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. Assuming that obama and his staff are incompetent bunglers certainly is simpler, not to mention more appealing, than the alternative. And yet, I still have this little sliver of nagging doubt.

Kind of like the horror movie when you think the monster is finally dead, but then the creepy music starts playing again...
